Author Lisa Yee Visits MLS Libraries

“ Hi! I'm Lisa Yee. Some of you may know me as a former Miss America . Oh, and then probably a lot of you don't even know me at all.”

Who is this crazy woman?

She's Lisa Yee, and if you don't know who she is, odds are the middle-school student in your life does. Yee is the multi-award-winning author of two wildly popular and very funny novels for junior high readers, “Millicent Min, Girl Genius” and “Stanford Wong Flunks Big Time.” Her third book, “So Totally Emily Ebers” will be published later this year.

But don't wait--she's coming to six Metropolitan Library System libraries in February.

This is how Yee describes herself on her website: “ Lisa Yee has been an inventor, a  hand model, and was once paid to eat chocolate. She's been part of the Official Olympic Committee Torch Run Caravan (until the police requested that she leave). And she has the second largest collection of Winnie-the-Poohs in America .

“Lisa's writing assignments have included cans of refried beans, a speech for a President of the United States , and television specials for Disney.” Actually, the president's speechwriters rewrote what Yee had come up with, but they did retain the line “Hello, Joan and Ben.”
