Teen Game Fest Event At Southern Oaks Library
It’s never too early to play your way into summer.
The Southern Oaks Library, 6900 S. Walker, is presenting a Teen Summer Game Fest from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 31.
“Teens love to play electronic games,” said Southern Oaks librarian and teen specialist John Hilbert. “Okay, I love it, too, but I’ll never see my teen years again. We all have a lot of fun when we have Game Fest at the library. It’s a great chance for teens to come to the library, meet friends and play games, and then check out some books.”
The Southern Oaks Teen Game Fest will be the kick-off to the Metropolitan Library System’s 2008 Summer at the Library program, called “Metamorphosis.” “Metamorphosis” begins June 1 and runs through July 31. Participants will be able to sign up to win a variety of prizes.
“Game Fest is the perfect way to begin the summer program,” Hilbert said, “because Game Fest is just one part of the program that will last from June 10 through July 31. A dozen of our system libraries will sponsor Game Fest events. We’re just doing it first at Southern Oaks.
“I don’t want to brag but—wait, yes I do,” Hilbert laughed. “We’re the first.”
So teens, come kick off the summer with a video game'a'thon like no other. The event will feature a Wii! Rock Band, Super Smash Brothers, DDR and more.
