Christmas at Hogwarts Celebration
Coming to Southern Oaks Library

Who wants to be a wizard?  It’s not all fun and games unless you’re celebrating the wonder that is Harry Potter.

The Southern Oaks Library, 6900 S. Walker, is magically transforming into Harry Potter’s magical school with “Christmas at Hogwarts” on Saturday, December 18, from 1:30-4:00p.m.  Consider this your official invitation, delivered by Owl Post.

“Actually, we’re doing double duty this time,” said librarian John Hilbert.  “Not only is this a grand party to celebrate the holiday season, but it’s also a tournament to recruit potential wizards for Hogwarts.    Teens who are wannabe students will compete in three categories of study: knowledge of spells and potions, the history of magic, and best wizardly attire.”

The questions will be based on information available in the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling.

“Of course it’s all in fun,” Hilbert explained.  “We don’t take the idea of magic seriously, but it’s a blast even for us hopelessly muggle librarians to pretend for a couple of hours.”

To reserve a spot in the tournament, call the Southern Oaks Library at 631-4468.  Hopefully, You-Know-Who will not be in attendance.
